‘Songs In The Key Of Life’ 50th anniversary celebration with videos, interviews, live music by Geneivah + vinyl party

By the mid-‘70s, Stevie Wonder had already released an astonishing sequence of albums that rewrote his career and all of soul and pop music: ‘Music Of My Mind’, ‘Talking Book’, ‘Innervisions’ and ‘Fulfillingness’ First Finale’. Then, on 28th September, 1976 came the double album (and bonus EP) that elevated him to almost unbelievable new heights: ‘Songs In The Key Of Life’. 

As this magnificent record reaches its 50th birthday, and on the eve of Stevie’s UK arena visit to play it in full, the SL is throwing Stevie a big party featuring audio, videos and playback from the original vinyl album, all hosted by our patron-writer Paul Sexton.

But you know we always like to illustrate these special nights with live music, so tonight we present a short showcase of two interpretations from ‘Key Of Life’ by the highly talented UK artist Geneivah, who recently released the impressively soulful ‘heArt & Soul’ EP. THEN Paul gets on the decks until closing time for a full-on Stevie disco! 

Geneivah is a south London soul singer-songwriter whose music blends gospel roots with jazz-influenced vocals and lived storytelling. She began releasing music in 2018 with her debut single 'My Love', and gained wider attention with her debut EP 'Songs & Soliloquies’. a heartfelt reflection on growth and self-worth.
